The Danger of Desire, Sinful Suitors #3 by Sabrina Jeffries

I really enjoyed the third book in this series. While I love Ms. Jeffries' writing and the other two books in this series, it's not necessary that you read the other two first.

Miss Delia Trevor is on a mission to find who cheater her brother out of his life savings. She does this by dressing as a man and trying to infiltrate London's gaming hells. During the day, she plays the part of a young woman out in her first season, yet she pays no attention to the men that are interested in her, including the Marquess of Knightford, Warren Corry. Warren agrees to help keep an eye on Delia to make sure that no men are just after her for her dowry, but finds himself becoming intrigued with her. He catches on quickly to what she does in the night and to make sure he keeps her secret, Delia must play his game.

I have been a big fan of Ms. Jeffries' writing since the beginning. She has a way of drawing the reader in, and writes great love scenes.

Rhythm & Clues (The Odelia Grey Mysteries)

I love love love Odelia Grey! In the 11th installment of this series, we find paralegal and "corpse magnet" Odelia embroiled in a new mystery.  Her mother has asked her to look into the disappearance of a neighbor in her retirement community, Bo Shank.  Before she can get too involved, a dead body is found in Bo Shank's house and Odelia's niece is a suspect! To help her niece, and figure out what happened to Bo, Odelia starts her investigation.

Odelia Grey stories are humorous, engaging, and always exciting.  Ms. Jaffarian keeps you guessing who the murderer is until the end! I normally have an easy time figuring out the "whodunit" but in this case, I was wrong! I give this book 5 stars. I really recommend you read the whole series, but it's not required if you want to jump right into this story!

Vexed - Castle Keyvnor

This is one of four books about Castle Keyvnor. Each book contains three romantic stories set against the spooky background of the Castle. The stories are slightly intertwined, yet each can be read as a stand-alone story.

Erica Ridley’s Romancing the Rogue:
Miss Rebecca Bond finds herself in need of a husband (and a new home)! The only problem: after years of being alone with no one to talk to, she needs to practice her flirting before she searches for true love. What better man to start with than the rake who broke her heart years before? Daniel Goodenham, Viscount North Barrows, knows this is finally his chance to apologize for his past behavior, but is surprised when Rebecca only wants him to teach her how to snag a husband. As the story progresses, Daniel finds that he wants to be the man she marries. But can she overcome the hurt he has caused in the past?

Ava Stone’s Once Upon a Moonlit Path:
What happens when you see ghosts, but no one else does? Lady Cassandra "Cassy" cannot wait to leave Castle Keyvnor. The ghostly man in black is not helping her reputation of being a sane woman. Jack Hazelwood, Lord St. Giles, finds himself falling in love with Cassy. However, she keeps having visions no one else does. Can he get past this (and the fact that her father hates him), or will these factors keep them apart?

Elizabeth Essex’s Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea:
Nessa Teague never stopped thinking of Lord Harry Beck, and she is delighted to see he has returned to Bocka Morrow. She attempts to enchant him, but her plan goes awry. Not only does she think of delving deeper into magic by contacting a local witch, but Harry finds himself in a mystery as well as he searches for smugglers. This one had more action that the other two, but still was a good read.

Brier (The Kingsbrier Quintuplets #2) by Jody Kaye

I really enjoyed this second book in the Kingsbrier Series. Brier Cavanaugh ran away from Drew Newhouse once before, but she never stopped loving him. Years have passed, but Drew also is not over Brier. He attempts to win her back, but it's not going to be easy. She's ready to put a fight at every turn.

I loved the writing in this story. The author does a great job with making the readers fall more in love with the Kingsbrier quints. The story just doesn't revolve around Brier, but also her siblings. We see how Eric and Ginny are doing, and we learn more about Adam and Colton's lives. Daveigh's struggle to find love without her siblings' interference plays a role in the men she dates. But the one she really wants doesn't realize that he actually does have a chance with her. I can't wait to read more in this series!

The Widow's Auction by Sabrina Jeffries

This was a fast-moving and very-enjoyable novella. Isobel, the widowed Lady Kingley, is at odds with Lord (Justin) Warbrooke most of the time. However, after she is talked into taking part in a widow's auction by a friend, she finds out that her alter-ego, the masked "Bella" catches Justin's eye. Justin actually realizes who she is, but decides to teach her a lesson by seeing how far he can seduce her. Bella is intrigued at what is being offered, yet she struggles with enjoying the moment because of a secret in her past. If her mask is removed and her true identity comes out, she worries that her life will be destroyed. Both of them find themselves caught up in the night, but what happens when morning comes?

I highly recommend this book. Fun, sexy and well-written.

Review - Lady Grace's Husband Hunt by Ava Stone

Lady Grace Post knows her great-uncle, the Duke of Danby, wants to see her married. She decides to find her own husband before he can shackle her to some boring old man. Since she can't have the man she's loved for years, she begins to search for someone to marry.

The Earl of Prestwood, Oliver Ashbee, wants nothing more than to be the husband Grace desires. Yet despite their feelings for one another, they cannot be together. Can the Duke of Danby work his magic before Grace marries a substitute for true love? Will Oliver spend his life pining for the woman who owns his heart?

This was such a lovely story! I can't even express how much I loved this novella. At one point, my heart broke during the scene in the garden. I've never teared up so many times in a novella before. The author's writing truly reflects the pain of living through a break-up, and what happens after - when you cannot have what your heart wants.

A revamp

I created this blog a long time ago, as a replacement to my original one. Long story as to why, and longer one as to why I changed back to Embracing Chaos. So this one sits, alone and free.  With the suggestion of a friend floating around in the back of my mind every so often, I've decided to transform this blog, Under a Gypsy Moon, into a book review blog. Then all my reviews can be in one happy place.  Eventually I'll take the time to move over the ones placed on Embracing Chaos, but for now, I will start fresh for August. :)

I liked this better than the first one. Although I think that's because a lot of the back story and characters had to be set up in Lowcountry Boil. With the second in the series, the reader could jump right in and get involved with the story. Liz is working on a new (and quite fascinating) new investigation, while dealing with her ex, Michael, and a possible new love interest, her partner Nate. I really enjoyed this one!

The Lady in the Attic (Annie's Attic Mysteries #1) by Tara Randel

I found this book on accident when looking for something else at the library. I love a good mystery, and this is definitely one! After her grandmother passed away, Annie returns to the place she spent many childhood summers. Widowed and feeling lonely, Annie had no plans to stay long, but soon finds herself caught up in a mystery that her grandmother left her. This was a fun cozy mystery and I'm looking forward to more in the series.
