A Summer Day

I walk,
alone,
around the lake.

The cerulean sky reaches on forever, as brushstrokes of white
paint clouds as though they were wisps of steam.
The water sparkles as though someone sprinkled diamonds on top.
The only sounds are the chirping of the birds
and the faint humming of the bees that dart from flower to flower,
nestling deep into the bloom to extract the sweet nectar.
The tiger lilies stretch high into the sky, swaying gently in the light breeze.

I walk,
alone,
and breathe in the smell of summer.
